| Reference Range: | A hsTNT level of >/= 14 ng/L is indicative of myocardial necrosis of which there are multiple causes. The diagnosis of MI requires a level of >/= 14 ng/L in the setting of ischaemia (eg symptoms or ECG changes) and a rise and/or fall >/= 50% at levels < 50 ng/L. At higher levels a rise and/or fall of 20% applies. If the first level is < 14 ng/L a second measurement may be appropriate 6 - 12 hours after the onset of symptoms in the relevant clinical setting. |
